Anyone who has a lovely lawn would want to keep it in tip top shape during the summer. As such, lawn care is something that will be high on your agenda, and to this end there are a number of things that you should always be remembering.
The first thing to talk about will be the actual climate in the area in which you live. Of course, if it is extremely hot where you live then it can become very difficult to maintain a lush lawn, but where ever you are and whatever the climate, making sure that your lawn get sufficient amounts of water is very important.
You should therefore look to water your lawn about once a week. People often assume that watering their lawn on a regular basis is going to be good for it and will keep it looking lush, but depending on the climate where you are, this can actually cause the roots to stay high and week. You should therefore do a deep soak once every week so that the roots grow low in order to get at the water. This will make them strong.
When you water your lawn is actually very important as well. You can certainly water your lawn any time of the day, but the optimum time would be right in the beginning of the day when the sun is coming up. If you were to water your son during the heat of the day then most of the water would evaporate, and if you were to water it at night then often fungus would begin to grow.
It is also a good idea to get a fertiliser, and in particular a slow release fertiliser. Fertilising to quickly during the summer can actually cause the lawn to be damaged and to burn, and as such a slow release fertiliser is a much better option.
Of course, the height of the grass is going to be an important factor to consider as well, and therefore you should try to cut your grass to about 4 inches during the summertime. This is properly the optimum level in order to resist drought.
